This hat badge was worn by all the units, including the departments of the X Mas.
Some marines sewed it on the basque in a non-regulary manner.
It was introduced as a replacement for the embroidered version, and it appeared only after mid-1944. Its distribution therefore remained rather limited.
The central oval, with the anchor inside, was of different colors depending on the specialty:
- Red = Marine Infantry
- Blue = Embark
- Black = Generic
- Yellow = Coastal Artillery
- Light Blue = "San Marco" Battalion
