Gorget in the style of those worn by the Feldgendarmerie (military police) of the Wehrmacht during the period of the Third Reich. Official examples were typically manufactured from stamped light metal, displaying the national eagle and identifying inscription, with a felt or cloth backing. They were suspended from a metal chain and worn over the uniform as a visible emblem of authority and military police function.
The present specimen, however, does not correspond to the documented and regulation patterns introduced between 1935 and 1945. Variations in shape, proportions, or iconographic details prevent a direct attribution to any officially issued model known from archival or period sources.
At present, no confirmed wartime documentation or photographic evidence has been identified to substantiate this particular design. It is therefore plausible that the piece represents an unadopted prototype, a preliminary design study, or a later fantasy creation without verifiable contemporary production.
Given the prominence of the Feldgendarmerie gorget as a symbol of military police authority, numerous reproductions and non-regulation variants have appeared over time. This example should thus be considered within a comparative and research-oriented framework rather than as a confirmed regulation-issued item.
