Brown leather bayonet frog for the Karabiner 98k, designed to secure and carry the standard German bayonet as part of the soldier’s field equipment during the Second World War. This accessory functioned as the interface between the bayonet and the belt, ensuring both stability and immediate accessibility in operational conditions.
Constructed from thick, durable leather, the frog features a folded and stitched design, reinforced with metal rivets at stress points. The upper section includes a metal stud or attachment point, used to fasten the bayonet securely in place. On the reverse, belt loops allow firm attachment to the standard military belt.
The brown leather finish is characteristic of earlier production phases, reflecting traditional leather treatment methods, before later wartime simplifications introduced blackened versions. This type of equipment was primarily issued to enlisted soldiers armed with the Karabiner 98k, the standard service rifle of the Wehrmacht.
